Energy Efficient Window Treatments

Energy efficient window treatments can save you money on your energy bill. They can decorate your windows and give you a good way to control the light source in your home. If your windows are not energy efficient in your home, you can add window treatments to your windows that will help your windows to be more energy efficient. Window treatments can do a lot for your home including giving you the privacy you need. They can conserve energy in your home and can be very decorative up at your windows.

Energy efficient window treatments give our windows protection from the weather elements that can change the temperature in our homes. They can keep the heat from coming through our windows in the summer and in the winter they can help to keep the warm air inside your home. Some of the different types of energy efficient window treatments that we choose are fabric shades and roman shades, lined and interlined draperies.

London Fabric Shades

london_fabric_shade

Our exquisite line of London Fabric Shades are nearly flat at the top, yet this elegant and sophisticated shade falls neatly from inverted pleats to gentle swags along the bottom, with wings at either side. Narrow window shades will have one swag; wider shades will have more. Our shades are available in custom widths up to 99", heights up to 100". The stacking height of these fabric shades when raised will be 15" to 20", depending upon shade height. Our custom shades are also available as a board-mounted, non-operational Valance.

Designing with Borders

border_shade

Border print fabrics, where the print runs along the lengthwise of the fabric, can be  positioned  so that the decorative edge is highlighted across a shade or down the length of a drapery panel. If you go this route, select a  border print featuring an all-over design that look the same when viewed from all directions to ensure that the print looks the same whether it's placed horizontally or vertically. Another way to create a border effect is to stitch bands of contrast fabric along the edge of a window treatment.

Decorating with Draperies

Draperies are the most popular choice of all window treatment styles for multiple reasons. Framing a window in fabric evokes feelings of hospitality, security, and comfort in a room, while providing decorative appeal and functionality. Drapes also have a disguising element — they can make windows appear wider or taller or both, and sheer panels can filter out an unsightly view. Pinch Pleated headings along the top of drapes are fashionable picks while traditionally gathered panels create lovely effects, especially when the panels remain stationary at the sides of the window. When selecting a fabric, remember that draperies that blend with the walls will fade into the setting, while bold, contrasting panels will become immediate focal points.

Testimonials

Michael Mann told us:
I have never felt the need to rate an order before, but I was so pleased with the quality of the shades I bought that I just wanted to tell you a big THANK YOU.

TIPS:

Swags and cascades are a dramatic treatment for windows. The swag is a drape of fabric which hangs in front of the curtains; the cascades are the elegant lengths of fabric that frame the window on either side. The more formal version is fixed to a valance board, but fabric can be draped informally over a rod as the only form of window dressing. Although the formal swags look best on tall windows, dressing full-length curtains, they can be effective scaled down to suit smaller windows.
